Hear From Our Happy Pet Parents

“No more 2 a.m. pacing.” Our Spaniel, Coco, used to circle the bedroom and sigh all night. Two weekly massages in, Coco settles within minutes and everyone sleeps.”

— Alex P., Manchester

“We noticed a change in the very first week. Riley (11-year-old Labrador) was taking forever to stand up after naps. Now Riley pushes up faster and even follows us to the garden again. It is not a fix it solution, but it makes a huge difference to his quality of life"

— Sam W., Surrey

“Bathroom breaks look easier.” Luna (9-year-old Cockapoo) had started straining to squat. After adding the rub to our Sunday routine, we see far less stiffness and Luna trots back with her tail up.”

— Priya, Glasgow

“We started on a twice-a-week routine and saw a shift fast.” Bella (10-year-old Golden Retriever) was limping after long walks. We now use the rub on Tuesdays and Fridays, sometimes a third time after big play days. Her stride looks looser and she settles without fuss at night.

— Emma, Leeds

“It became our bonding time.” Max (13-year-old mixed breed) actually comes and lies down when he sees the bottle. The gentle massage has turned into the calmest ten minutes of our week, and Max moves more freely after.”

— Jodie L., Bristol

“My vet noticed the difference too.” We still use prescribed meds, but the vet said his gait looks looser and to ‘keep doing whatever you’re doing.’ That felt amazing.”

— Mark from Kent

“On tough weeks we add a third application.” Daisy (Border Collie, 12) still loves her hill walks but pays for it later. We massage the rub in every Wednesday and Saturday, and a bonus session after any big hike. The difference in her recovery is night and day.

— Lucy M., Lake District

How One Weekly Rub Turns “Ouch” into “Ahh”

Why This Rub Is the Missing Piece

“We’ve tried everything: He is on a cocktail of meds. Some of it helped but he’s still limping, still panting, still pacing through the night. He is just not himself. “I’m beyond tired, I just want to do what’s best for him."

If this sounds familiar, you’re not alone. These are the stories we hear every day from dog parents who are doing everything right and still exasperated seeing their dogs suffer.

“She’s eating well. Bright in herself. But she just can’t walk anymore.”

“He forgot how to walk. His whole posture has changed.”

“I feel guilty. I gave her the drug they said would help, and now she’s worse not sleeping, not walking, just anxious and panting.”

Pain in dogs isn’t always where you think it is. It’s not just the joints. It’s in the surrounding muscles. The fascia. The nervous system that’s stuck in protection mode. When that system doesn’t calm down, for many pets no cocktail can fully fix the pain.

That’s why we created this rub. It’s designed to work where other things don’t relaxing tight muscles, calming nerve signals, helping the body soften out of pain without sedation or side-effects. Just real physical relief.

The ingredients are used by integrative vets around the world: Boswellia to reduce inflammation, Arnica for muscle tension, Clary Sage and Cedarwood to support the nervous system.

It’s not a replacement for your vet plan. It’s the thing that’s been missing from it.

So if feel you’ve tried everything, and your dog is still flinching, still pacing at night, still stuck in that same stiff, painful cycle you’re not out of options. You haven’t tried this yet.

Less “Substance P” means less “ouch”

Our rub helps reduce Substance P, which means fewer pain signals and less discomfort.

Apply using slow, firm thumb-pad circles (about the size of a 50p coin). This helps spread the rub evenly and pushes it deeper into sore areas, getting real results where your dog needs them most.

Why This Works: Backed by Veterinary Pain Science

Pain isn’t just a symptom. It’s the body’s way of staying in protection mode long after the damage is done.

“Chronic pain in dogs often involves not just the joint, but the muscles, nerves, fascia, and brain’s response to ongoing discomfort.
The more angles we address, the better the outcome.

The 7 Botanicals Do the Heavy Lifting

Arnica supports recovery in sore tissues. It is often used to help with muscle aches, sprains, and arthritis in dogs.

Ginger contains compounds called gingerols, which boost circulation and reduce inflammation in joints and muscles.

Frankincense is a potent anti-inflammatory oil that supports flexible joint movement.

Clary Sage and Cedarwood help relax nerves and promote deep relaxation.

Peppermint has mild analgesic (pain-relieving) properties and is traditionally used to alleviate muscle soreness. Dogs particularly enjoy its cooling relief on inflamed areas.

    Calmer Nerves, Better Blood Flow

Once the brain gets the “all good” message, it dials down stress chemicals that make muscles clamp tight.

Looser muscles open tiny vessels, letting fresh, oxygen-rich blood wash into tired joints and carry waste inflammatory chemicals away.

One weekly session sets a new rhythm for both of you.

    • Eases tension that keeps dogs restless at night
    • Calms nerves so muscles can finally relax
    • Loosened muscles reduce joint pressure and movement pain
    • A relaxed dog sleeps deeper and so do you

If your dog shifts, pants, or paces all night…
This is the comfort they’ve been asking for.

DOG & CAT JOINT & MUSCLE RELIEF RUB (50 ml) - FurBabies™ Botanicals

They suffer quietly until you can’t ignore it anymore.

We manage their pain with pills, chews, and the occasional injection, while their muscles stay tight, their posture shifts, and the pain comes back.

When we're sore, we don’t stop at meds. We use topical rubs & massage to release the tension. Dogs can’t do that for themselves. They can’t rub the ache out & they need us to do it for them.

This rub was made to do exactly that which is safely, gently and right where it hurts.

It’s not a replacement, rather it’s the piece from your pet's pain toolkit that’s been missing.

    JOINT PAIN FACTORS TO CONSIDER

    Degenerative Nature

As cartilage wears down, the body tightens the muscles & fascia around the joint to protect it. This tightening causes pain. It’s not just about being old or arthritic. It’s about overuse, recovery, and resetting the system. That’s where our Aches & Pains rub delivers.

    Joint Chews

These can support long-term joint health, but do not address the the pain dogs feel right now. A comprehensive approach that includes muscle recovery, nerve calming, & inflammation control in the tissues surrounding the joint. That's what the precision blend of botanicals tackles.

    Jumping, sprinting & skidding

Tightens muscles & fascia to stabilise the joint especially around hips, knees, & shoulders. This creates pain & restricted movement. Zoomie breeds, working dogs & weekend warriors, this rub is designed for you too. It calms overloaded muscles supporting fluid, pain-free movement.

Pain isn't only in the joint

It also lives in the tight muscles, inflammed tissue, & irritated nerves trying to protect the knee, hip, neck & spine joints. That’s what our rub addresses.

    Weight Has a Big Impact

Extra weight forces your dog’s muscles to work harder to protect sore joints causing pain & inflammation in the tissue around them. That’s what our rub targets

    Cold & Damp Temperatures

Cold weather slows circulation, worsening pain. The botanical ingredients are muscle relaxants & natural anti-inflammatories to ease stiffness right where it starts.

These numbers tell the story and why it’s time to act sooner.

    35%

Arthritis affects 35% of all dogs over 1 year of age.

    24%

24% of dogs aged 8 months to 4 years already show signs of arthritic pain.

    50%

Half of arthritic dogs aren’t diagnosed until after age 8 often when it’s already advanced.

    Start Earlier. Ease Pain Smarter.
Data from Canine Arthritis Management (CAM) and WSAVA Global Pain Council.

    Hip Dysplasia & Pain Development

It starts as tension. The signs are subtle. But the pain is real, especially in large and active breeds.

    Breeds Affected

Up to 80% of large-breed dogs like Labs, Staffies, German Shepherds, Goldens, Rottweilers, Bernese, Danes, Saint Bernards, Cane Corsos, Boxers & Border Collies show signs by age 2 to 3.

While less common, hip dysplasia can also affect smaller dogs — especially Frenchies, Cockers & Pugs — often going unnoticed until later in life.

    Early Warning Signs

    • Bunny hopping
    • Swaying or weak back legs
    • Sloppy sits
    • Hesitant to jump or climb
    • Slower to rise
    • Licking hips or groin
    • Less playful or more withdrawn
    • Shifting weight onto front legs
    • Avoiding or taking stairs cautiously
    • Awkward standing posture or turned-out hind feet

    Not Sure If Needed?

Good. Try it once. Rub it into the muscles around their hips, lower back, or thighs. If they stretch deeper, fall asleep faster, or move easier the next morning — you just found pain they weren’t showing you.

This rub reveals what they’re hiding & gives you a way to do something about it. They live in our world now & we are their only way to comfort & relief.

    Why This Rub Matters

Hip dysplasia doesn’t just affect the bones, it starts with a shallow joint, but the pain comes from how the body compensates.

Muscles tense. Fascia tightens. Nerves get compressed.
Your dog guards every step. This guarding builds tension, stiffness, and fatigue long before any limp appears.

    This rub interrupts that cycle.
It calms overworked muscles, releases fascia, boosts blood flow, and relieves the soft tissue pain that no X-ray can see.

What does that mean for your dog?
Less guarding. Less flinching. More ease. More rest. The quiet return of their spark.

Give Them Comfort. Bring Back Their Confidence.
Data from OFA, CAM (Canine Arthritis Management), and WSAVA Global Pain Council.

Post-TPLO Recovery or Trying to Avoid a CCL Tear? This Rub Supports Healing Where It Matters Most.

Zoomie dogs are high-impact athletes. Quick turns, explosive sprints, and skids on hard floors don’t just burn energy — they create micro-tears and long-term strain. For some dogs, that builds into a full CCL tear. And for those recovering from TPLO surgery, what happens after the stitches come out matters just as much as what happened in surgery.

    Why This Matters

CCL injuries rarely happen all at once. They build over time through repetitive play, instability, and muscle fatigue. Even after surgery, tight fascia, guarding, and tissue overload can delay healing or increase the risk of arthritis — especially in the operated leg.

Dogs recovering from TPLO, or those at risk for cruciate tears, need more than rest and meds. They need physical support that addresses the soft tissue strain surrounding the joint.

    Signs They’re Not Fully Recovered

    • Limping after short bursts of play
    • Flinching when touched
    • Slow to get up or lie down
    • Shifting weight off one leg
    • Bunny hopping or hunched posture
    • Stiffness after rest
    • Licking or chewing at joints or surgical site

    How the Rub Supports Recovery

This rub is a hands-on, topical addition to your dog’s post-surgical plan. It works alongside your care routine to:

    • - Release muscle tension and guarding after surgery
    • - Boost circulation to aid natural tissue healing
    • - Reduce inflammation and soreness post-activity
    • - Promote deeper rest and recovery between rehab sessions

One rub. Once a week. Adds real comfort to the recovery process without adding to their pill load.

    Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

    1. What is the Aches & Pains Rub made of, and is it safe for my pet?

The rub is made from a blend of all-natural, vet-approved botanicals, including Arnica, Cedarwood, Ginger, Frankincense, and more. These ingredients are carefully selected for their therapeutic properties. There are no artificial chemicals, fillers, or harmful additives, making it a safe, non-toxic option for your pet when used as directed.

    2. How does the rub help with joint and muscle pain in pets?

The Aches & Pains Rub uses a unique blend of seven botanicals that work synergistically to relieve pain and inflammation. Arnica targets inflammation and swelling, Cedarwood helps with muscle relaxation, and Frankincense supports joint mobility. Ginger improves circulation, while Peppermint and Boswellia bring additional soothing effects. The rub’s blend of oils amplifies the release of key chemicals during massage, including endorphins and serotonin, which reduce pain and calm anxiety. These ingredients work together synergistically to provide faster relief.

    3. Can I use the Aches & Pains Rub alongside my pet’s existing supplements or medications?

The Aches & Pains Rub can be safely used alongside most existing supplements or medications, as it offers a complementary, topical approach to pain relief and inflammation. This holistic approach offers a comprehensive strategy for managing your pet's discomfort.

    4. What are signs a dog or cat is in pain?

Pain in pets can be hard to detect, but common signs include:

    1. Behavioral Changes: A pet may become withdrawn, more aggressive, or less interested in interaction.
    2. Limping or Stiffness: Difficulty walking, climbing stairs, or moving normally can indicate joint pain or injury.
    3. Appetite Loss: Decreased eating or refusal to eat can signal pain, particularly in dental or abdominal issues.
    4. Vocalising or Whining: Whimpering, growling, or excessive vocalising when touched or moving is often a sign of discomfort.
    5. Excessive Licking or Grooming: Pets may lick or chew at a painful spot in an attempt to relieve discomfort.
    6. Panting or Increased Breathing: Rapid breathing or panting can occur when a pet is in pain, especially with conditions like arthritis or injuries.

See our blog section for more information on pain recognition & quality of life.

    5. How long does dog pain relief last?

The pain relief duration for dogs using the Aches & Pains Rub can vary based on factors such as the level of inflammation, pain thresholds, and the specific needs of the pet. Typically, once a week application is sufficient for maintaining comfort in pets with mild to moderate discomfort. However, for pets with higher pain levels or more severe inflammation—such as those with arthritis or chronic joint issues—the rub can be applied twice a week to provide more consistent relief.

The active ingredients in the rub, like Arnica, Cedarwood, and Ginger, work by reducing inflammation, promoting circulation, and providing natural pain relief. This can result in lasting comfort that helps pets move more freely and comfortably throughout the day. The exact duration of relief will depend on the pet's individual condition and pain threshold. Some pets may experience relief for several days, while others might need more frequent applications for ongoing support.

It's important to listen to your pet's needs. If their discomfort is more pronounced on certain days or during specific activities, additional applications may help. Regular use helps ensure your pet stays comfortable and supported. Always consult your veterinarian if you're unsure about the frequency or if your pet has any underlying conditions requiring special attention.

    6. Can the rub help my pet stay comfortable during colder months?

The Ginger in the rub enhances circulation, which helps to keep your pet warm and comfortable, especially for older pets or those with mobility issues. It can support your pet's temperature regulation during colder months by promoting warmth and comfort. As for Peppermint, while it has a cooling effect when applied topically, it does not counteract the warming effects of Ginger in this formulation. The cooling and warming properties can work synergistically, offering a balance that helps with pain relief, muscle relaxation, and overall comfort without conflicting effects. The Peppermint primarily helps to soothe muscles, reduce inflammation, and promote relaxation. Together, the ingredients create a well-rounded effect that supports your pet through both temperature regulation and relief from aches and pains.

    7. My dog has long hair. How do I actually get it to their skin?

For dogs with thick or long coats, we recommend parting the fur to expose the skin before applying the spray directly to the affected area. Gently massage the spray into the skin to ensure it reaches the underlying muscles.

For best results, please follow the massage technique demonstrated by Dr. Erica at the bottom of the page. This will help target the muscles more effectively and provide greater relief for your dog.

    8. But wait you use peppermint?

Misinformation online has created confusion around peppermint and pets, but when used appropriately, peppermint is not only safe, it can be therapeutic.

Peppermint has long been used in veterinary and grooming products for its cooling, soothing, and circulation-boosting properties. The concern about toxicity arises from cases involving undiluted peppermint essential oil or excessive ingestion, neither of which applies to our formula.

As with any ingredient (including common medications or supplements), toxicity is a matter of dosage. When used in the right amounts, peppermint offers real muscular and skin benefits.

In fact, peppermint is widely used today across many trusted UK grooming and pet wellness brands:

    • Milly’s Peppermint Shampoo – pH-balanced and puppy-safe
    • Henry & Co Organic Peppermint Dog Shampoo – contains therapeutic-grade peppermint
    • Paw Naturel Peppermint Fresh Shampoo – natural flea deterrent, hypoallergenic
    • Mutts & Hounds Grooming Spray – coat conditioning spray with natural essential oils
    • Peanut & Pickle Peppermint & Eucalyptus Shampoo – vegan, professional-grade
    • Earthbath, Nature’s Specialties, and Vet’s Best – global brands trusted by vets and groomers alike

We always follow safe formulation practices using pet-safe dilutions, and our peppermint content meets veterinary safety standards.
